Mayor Daniel Dietch
Mayor Daniel DietchPhone: (305) 861-4863

I moved to Surfside with my family in 2000 and it was love at first sight.  Having learned the importance of public service from my parents, I volunteered my time to Surfside in many capacities, including the Community Center Committee, the Planning and Zoning Board and the Design Review Board.  I was first elected to the Office of Mayor in 2010 and I am now serving in my fourth term.

By way of academic background, I have an undergraduate degree from Skidmore College in Geology and Anthropology, a graduate degree from Cornell University in Environmental Management and a graduate degree from the University of Miami in Business Administration.  Professionally, I am an environmental consultant employed by CH2M, a global program management and consulting engineering firm.  I am proud to be a graduate of the inaugural class of the Good Government Institute and I currently serve on the Board of The CLEO Institute.  I use both my academic and professional experience to help shape sensible policies that benefit Surfside in the near and longer-term.

Surfside already has much to be proud of including our diverse recreation programs, our beautiful beaches and parks, a diverse downtown shopping district, caring residents and a staff dedicated to serving the Town and its residents.  We are currently working on many initiatives, including building our capacity to manage climate change, enhancing public safety, mitigating local and regional traffic impacts, improving our technology services and capitalizing on opportunities to improve municipal services and lower costs by collaborating with our neighboring communities.

As we move forward, my commitment to you is to be open-minded, thorough, fair and honest.  My priority is to solicit feedback, to listen to my constituents and the Town’s stakeholders and to act in the best interests of Surfside.

I thank you for your confidence in me.  I look forward to hearing from you and continuing to work to keep Surfside a great community to live, work, visit, raise a family and enjoy life.
