Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the most visible section of the Police Department, providing around the clock routine and emergency services to the community with an emphasis on accountability, maximization of resources, and community relations through progressive policing. Our officers patrol a residential community incorporating single family homes and condominiums, a business district with retail, specialty boutiques and restaurants, and public beach. Officers utilize a variety of specialized equipment to patrol the different areas maintaining a high level of visibility and bringing them closer to those we serve.

Business District Officer

Within the Patrol Division, we have a permanent Business District Officer assignment. The Business District officer patrols weekdays during peak hours to maintain a constant presence, address quality of life matters throughout and uphold the SPD Community Policing philosophy and practices.

Community Service Aide

The Patrol Division is supplemented by Community Service Aides (CSA). Community Service Aides respond to non-enforcement calls for service and complete administrative tasks freeing police officers to remain available for more critical duties. Responsibilities of the CSA include: promoting police / public relations through exposure of the CSA at community projects and special events, completing crime reports and minor traffic accidents, monitoring school bus stops and being another set of eyes on the community.
