Commissioner Edward Kopelman
I was born in the Boston, MA area in 1935. I attended the New Preparatory School in Cambridge, MA, then on to Boston University and Rutgers University before entering the U.S. Army in 1954, where I served in the Military Police Corps. After being honorably discharged in 1956, I attended Atlanta Law School, while concurrently managing the Home Typewriter Company, which served five southern states. After returning to New England in 1958, I joined National Merchandising Corp (NAMCO) as a member of their sales management team, and as part of my NAMCO duties, formed a subsidiary company, LECTRO-QUIP Corp which I purchased from NAMCO in 1970. As part of the buy-out agreement I changed its name to TECHNI-QUIP Corp (TQC), which still manufactures industrial, medical and military equipment (all made in the U.S.A!) I ran TQC as Founder, largest stockholder and Chief Executive Officer for over 25 years, selling my shares to a group emanating from Lockheed. The corporation is currently run from Northern California, still as TECHNI-QUIP Corp. I am a member of Post 67 of the American Legion and a Life Member of Post 3559 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. I am a member of The Shul (of Bal Harbour), a life member of the New England Hebrew Teachers College Association, as well as a Founder of the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation. I am proudly married to my wife Pauline (Polly) for 29 years and we have had the happy opportunity to live in Surfside for over six years.
