Town Manager Roger M. Carlton

Roger M. Carlton serves as the Town Manager for Surfside, Florida appointed in 2010.  Mr. Carlton is a highly-regarded municipal administrator with nearly 40 years experience in the public and private sector.

Prior to coming to Surfside, Mr. Carlton was Interim City Manager in South Miami and he has served as City Manager of Miami Beach and Assistant Manager in Miami-Dade and Pinellas Counties.  He also spent six years overseeing the City of Miami’s Department of Off-Street Parking and has served as the Deputy Director of Florida International University’s Metropolitan Center.  In the private sector, he was Senior Vice President for Lockheed Martin IMS and was Executive Vice President for Wometco Enterprises.

Mr. Carlton has received a BS in Business Administration Degree from the University of Florida in 1969 and an MBA from Georgia State University in 1971.  He has an extensive history of civic involvement having served as Chairman of the Board of the Zoological Society of South Florida, the American Red Cross South Florida Chapter, Goodwill Industries of South Florida, Florida Parking Association and the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration.  He currently serves as Vice Chairperson of the Board for Camillus House and is a member of the Miami-Dade Historic Preservation Board.

He has been married to Beth for 32 years and their children Judd and Abby have given them four wonderful granddaughters.
