                                                                  Finance Director 
 
The Town of Surfside is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Finance Director.  Under the administrative direction of the Town Manager, the Finance Director is responsible for comprehensive fiscal administration of the Town’s financial affairs, overseeing the Town’s financial planning and accounting practices for effective and efficient use of all available financial resources.  The Finance Director is also responsible for development of the annual budget, management of the Town’s investments, preparation of reports, financial analysis,  debt management and audit preparation.
 
The preferred candidate must have a proven track record in cost containment, health insurance and other insurance programs, collection of bad debt, must be enthusiastic with a vision and outstanding communication skills.
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field is required.  A Master Degree is preferred. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in finance administration with five (5) years of municipal experience and Certified Public Accountant designation preferred. Must possess knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting including grants, insurance, employee benefits, budgeting, financial controls, investments, and financing as well as accounting for utility services.  Working knowledge of SunGard HTE is desired.  Salary: DOQ/E.  Excellent benefits.  Camp Counselor– (Seasonal)
 

Under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, assists with recreational summer camp youth program.

 

The successful candidates must have general knowledge of Parks and Recreation fundamentals, must be able to enforce policies, rules and safety regulations for participants. Duties include, but not limited to planning, implementing supervising and participating in activities, field trips for children of various ages in recreational camp setting.  Candidates must be able to work well with people, display courteous customer service and work related assignments including light custodial tasks as required. Flexible schedule is required. Salary range: $8.00 - $10.00  per hour DOQ/E.  Interviews will be conducted in March and then there after, if necessary.
