Commissioner Elizabeth Calderon

Elizabeth Calderon, a Surfside resident and homeowner since 2001, has attended Town Commission meetings for many years. She participated in workshops & public input sessions regarding the Beach Walking Path and Community Center, such as the Charrette.  Elizabeth and her Therapy poodle, Marseille, regularly visit patients at Douglas Gardens. Additionally, she reads to elementary school children through Biscayne Bay Kiwanis. Ms. Calderon was elected President of her Homeowners Association in Maryland and later served as President of her Condo Association in Washington, D.C.

Elizabeth began her career as a registered nurse, a graduate of Bellevue Hospital and New York University.  She worked for 12 years as a nursing administrator, then as a single parent, she attended law school at night and graduated from George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C in 1993.  Today, Ms. Calderon owns and manages her own law firm and practices immigration law.  She has been admitted to the Bar Associations of the District of Columbia, State of Pennsylvania, and Federal District Court for the District of Columbia.  In 2007, she was admitted to the Bar Association of the United States Supreme Court.

She has two children, one an attorney and one in law school.
