| Commissioner Howard S. Weinberg |
Howard S. Weinberg, was born in Connecticut and has lived in South Florida for over 20 years. Mr. Weinberg earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, a Master's Degree in Government from Georgetown University and a Law Degree from Boston University. Howard's law practice currently focuses on an area that has touched his own life: helping to build families through the miracle of adoption. He and his wife Laurie (Lulu) moved to Surfside in 1998 along with their Giant Schnauzer, Doogie. The Weinberg family has been blessed with three children (ages 4, 2, and 2) since moving to Surfside.
The Weinberg's restored their 1958 home in Surfside and won a MiMo preservation award last year for their efforts. Their home appears in the recently published book "MiMo: Miami Modernism Revealed." The Weinbergs are currently repairing "Villa Paula", the house built in the 1920's as the Cuban Consulate. It has been designated historic by the City of Miami and is the only building in mainland Florida that was constructed entirely with materials imported from Cuba.
Howard served as a Holocaust survivor interviewer for Steven Spielberg's Foundation. Mr. Weinberg also produced and hosted a documentary that aired on local television about the lives of Holocaust survivors currently living right here in South Florida. Mr. Weinberg and his family enjoy participating in the Town's Family Fun Days.
