April 2008 Officer of the Month

On April 13, while on routine patrol Officer Lesmes Ruiz stopped a green Volvo in the residential area for a traffic violation. Officer Ruiz checked the subject for warrants and it showed an active felony warrant for kidnapping, armed robbery and falsely impersonating a police officer involving death/injury. In 2003 in Miami, the driver along with three subjects had impersonated FBI agents and robbed and kidnapped a husband and his wife at gunpoint and held them for ransom. Due to Officer Ruiz diligence, a dangerous wanted felon was taken off the streets.
