Thinking about having a garage sale in Town? Here's what you need to know!
The Town of Surfside allows residents to hold two garage sales per calendar year without a permit although Code Compliance must still be notified by email.
Note: If you've already held two garage sales within a calendar year and would like to hold another one, then you must apply for a garage sale permit (see below) and pay a $10.00 fee.
Garage Sales signs shall be located only on private property. They are permitted within 24 hours of the event and shall be removed no later than 24 hours after the event.
Sec. 62-1. - Garage sales.
(a) No person shall hold an outdoor sale of any type of articles, commonly known as a garage sale, without a permit from the town manager. The permit shall be for one two-day sale between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a person may hold up to two garage sales on their property within a calendar year without a permit.
(b) Items to be sold shall consist solely of used possessions of the person who permanently resides on such property.
(c) The posting of signs, notices, placards or any other form of written notice or advertising is prohibited on any public property or right-of-way.
