Cine Citta Caffe

Cine Citta Cafe has been the kosher dairy restaurant of choice for residents and visitors in the Town of Surfside for over a decade. The restaurant and café offers an innovative selection of traditional and modern Italian cuisine. The menu, created by Executive Chef Romulo Melo, is a mix of signature entrees and Italian staples, such as pasta, fish dishes, delicious brick-oven pizza and handmade breads. The artichoke Paesana and the Branzino Mediterranean are favorites, but everything is tasty and beautifully plated for a fine-dining experience. As for the kosher delegation, Cine Citta Caffe has a Cholov Yisroel / Pas Yisroel Kosher Certification, one of the highest Kosher certifications. Outdoor seating is available, call for a reservation.

Flanigan’s Seafood Bar and Grill is a South Florida family restaurant started in the late 1980s that is famous for its legendary baby back ribs and fresh fish. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients and offering homemade items, including prime rib, ten ounce burgers and “WayTooBig Sandwiches” - a signatures style of sandwich that even has a trademarked name. If you have room for dessert, try the FLANIGAN’S SHENANIGAN™ , a very generous slice of candy walnut apple pie, topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel and Heath Bar crunch. It is best eaten with a friend.

Josh’s Delicatessen and Appetizing is a modern take on a traditional Jewish Deli. Serving deli staples with a twist, there is a rotating menu to keep things interesting, and everything is made from scratch; the chef even bakes his own bread. If you’re there at breakfast, try the bagel platter or the spicy tuna latkes. Executive Chef and owner Josh Marcus dishes up crispy latkes with thinly sliced sushi-grade tuna and spicy mayo that will leave you wanting more. If you’re there at lunch, order one of the generous sandwiches, like the seared tuna reuben or the “Jewban” – pastrami, pork, pickle, and Swiss. It’s all delicious, and definitely not kosher.

Morelia’s offers a wide selection of artisanal pops handcrafted with natural ingredients that put a new spin on frozen treats. Beyond the expected fruit flavors, Morelia’s offers tropical fruits such as mango and coconut and ups the wow factor with chocolate dips, toppings and so much more. A far cry from the fluorescent freezer pops of the aughts, these are something to be experienced. The Surfside location is the brand’s fourth store in Miami.

Rita's Italian Ice serves up a variety of frozen treats. Brought to America by Italian immigrants, the many-flavored concoction dubbed ‘italian ice’ is a frozen dessert made with fruit or other natural food flavorings. It’s the sweeter, smoother sorbet. In addition to Italian Ice, the shop also serves cream ice, frozen custard, gelati, and Mista – a frozen blend of Italian Ice and custard. Come for the ice, stay for the sweets. Serendipity Yogurt Cafe

Started in 2008 by local Jessica Levison, Serendipity has been serving small-batch ice cream by the scoopful to Surfside residents for years. Offering a treat for a variety of palates, all of the ice cream and sorbet is made from scratch, using organic ingredients from local purveyors such as Panther Coffee and Paradise Farms. The sweets shop is also certified kosher by Kosher Dairy Miami, and for non-dairy lovers, all the Serendipity sorbet is vegan, so there is something for everyone!

Specchio has been delighting diners with its authentic Italian dishes and great service for years. Owned by Surfside local Gianni, this neighborhood gem is known for serving quality Italian food in a cozy atmosphere. The wide ranging menus offers delectable pastas – order the handmade ravioli – and classic entrees such as Chicken Marsala and Filet Mignon. As locals and insiders know, everything at Specchio is delicious. If you have room for dessert, order the often raved about warm ricotta cheesecake, it is a satisfying end to a memorable meal. New to Harding Avenue this year is STREET Kitchen, led by Chef David Benrey and his talented culinary team. Comfort food classics like fried chicken and burgers are made to perfection, as are the carefully prepared fish, lamb and meat dishes. Self-proclaimed fans of "birds, fish, meat and beer" the restaurant offers limited outdoor seating, so make sure you call for a reservations. For authentic Japanese fare, head to Sushi Republic. A locals’ spot, Sushi Republic is known for classic sushi rolls, tempura, katsu and other delicious Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices. Led by a chef trained in Japan, the petite space consistently boasts five-star reviews, great service, and fresh seafood. It also holds the title of Best Sushi in Miami. For a taste of everything good, order a sushi-sashimi combo, which can include up to 10 pieces of sushi, 16 pieces of sashimi, a tuna roll and an eel roll. The place is open for lunch and dinner, but consider going during non-peak hours, as there is usually a wait.
