Cafe Vert Surfside
Café Vert is a relaxed, airy cafe for kosher fare with French flair, including sandwiches, savory crepes and pastries. The small café serves a variety of food but is perhaps best known for their delicious breakfasts. In the mornings, the café is busy with with diners starting their day with a heaping pile of French toast or a lip-smacking peanut butter and banana panini. Located on Haring Avenue, south of 95th street, Café Vert is a local haven.
Chai Wok focuses on serving modern Asian food that blends the flavors of the east. This Chinese and Sushi kosher restaurant serves a diverse menu of delicious Asian dishes and appetizers, including wok chicken and beef entrées, family-style noodles and rice, as well as hand-crafted sushi rolls and platters. Cine Citta Caffe
Cine Citta Cafe has been the kosher dairy restaurant of choice for residents and visitors in the Town of Surfside for over a decade. The restaurant and café offers an innovative selection of traditional and modern Italian cuisine. The menu, created by Executive Chef Romulo Melo, is a mix of signature entrees and Italian staples, such as pasta, fish dishes, delicious brick-oven pizza and handmade breads. The artichoke Paesana and the Branzino Mediterranean are favorites, but everything is tasty and beautifully plated for a fine-dining experience. Flanigan’s Seafood Bar and Grill is a South Florida family restaurant started in the late 1980s that is famous for its legendary baby back ribs and fresh fish. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients and offering homemade items, including prime rib, ten ounce burgers and “WayTooBig Sandwiches” - a signatures style of sandwich that even has a trademarked name. Handcrafted gourmet popsicles have come to Surfside! The Miami-based Morelia’s Gourmet Paletas are made with high-quality natural ingredients. Morelia’s offers a wide selection of artisanal pops handcrafted with natural ingredients that put a new spin on frozen treats. Beyond the expected fruit flavors, Morelia’s offers tropical fruits such as mango and coconut and ups the wow factor with chocolate dips, toppings and so much more. A far cry from the fluorescent freezer pops of the aughts, these are something to be experienced. The Surfside location is the brand’s fourth store in Miami.
Rita's Italian Ice Custard
Rita's Italian Ice serves up a variety of frozen treats. Brought to America by Italian immigrants, the many-flavored concoction dubbed ‘italian ice’ is a frozen dessert made with fruit or other natural food flavorings. It’s the sweeter, smoother sorbet. In addition to Italian Ice, the shop also serves cream ice, frozen custard, gelati, and Mista – a frozen blend of Italian Ice and custard. Come for the ice, stay for the sweets. If you’re searching for a hidden gem bakery with a vintage vibe, look no further than the Rolling Pin Bakery in Surfside. This Lilliputian bakery offers kosher pastries, breads and cookies perfect for the holidays. Located on Harding Avenue and 95th street, the Rolling Pin bakery has amassed a loyal following for its fresh-baked challah bread and rugelach.
Rustiko Artisan Bistro draws from an array of Mediterranean and American influences for a wide menu but locally, it’s really known for its Italian dishes. If you’re into truffle, try both the truffle pizza - made in a wood-fired oven - and the pappardelle truffle pasta, with just the perfect touch of creamy sauce and parmesan cheese.
Serendipity Yogurt Cafe
Started in 2008 by local Jessica Levison, Serendipity has been serving small-batch ice cream by the scoopful to Surfside residents for years. Offering a treat for a variety of palates, all of the ice cream and sorbet is made from scratch, using organic ingredients from local purveyors such as Panther Coffee and Paradise Farms. The sweets shop is also certified kosher by Kosher Dairy Miami, and for non-dairy lovers, all the Serendipity sorbet is vegan, so there is something for everyone!
