ZOOM in for Cool Classes and other Activities from Parks and Recreation


Work off all your bottled up energy with a variety of classes courtesy of the Surfside Parks and Recreation Department. The team is offering a regular rotation of fitness workouts, youth sports, story times, sing-along and more through ZOOM, a web-based video platform that can be easily accessed through your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Note:  Refer to the link above to access  the schedule for ZOOM classes. 

First Option: 

  • The link will be accessible through any Smartphone, Tablet or Laptop/Computer
  • Once you click on the link, it will redirect you to the ZOOM site
  • You will have to register by putting your full name and email
  • You will receive an email confirmation with the link to enter the class 

Note:  The host will have to start the meeting first so you can join or the host enables 'join before host.'


Class Information below

Adult and Senior Classes


Classes will resume on July 26.

Join us for virtual Yoga. In this class the basic, foundational yoga postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated.  

-       Instructor: Claudia

-       Monday - 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

-       Age Group: Adult and Seniors

-     Equipment: yoga blocks and straps. A tie or rope can be used if you do not have a yoga strap. A book can be used if you do not have a yoga block.

Morning Stretch

Classes will resume on July 26.

Morning stretches are the best way to start the day. Kick of your day the healthy way with a virtual morning stretch class.

-       Instructor: Tanya

-       Tuesday and Thursday

-       8:30 am to 9:30 am

-       Age Group: Adults and Seniors

Join us for a virtual Zumba class, get a total body workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility.

-       Certified Zumba Instructor: Ileana/Jennifer

-       Wednesday

-       10:00 am to 11:00 am

-       Age Group: Adults and Seniors

Aerobics/Body Sculpting Class

Classes will resume on July 26.

This class consists of various types of cardio aerobics including Low Impact and step aerobics that is easy to follow to enhance your cardio workout. This will be followed by a segment of strength training, abdominal workout, and cool down. 

-       Instructor: Claudia

-       Wednesday 

-       6:00 pm to 7:15 pm

-       Age Group: Adult and Seniors

-       Equipment: If you do not have a step you can do the same movements on the floor without a step. Two cans of soup can be used if you do not have weights, a broom or mop can be used if you do not have a body bar.

Cardio and Strength 

Classes will resume on July 26.

This fitness class combines a variety of exercises to help increase cardio endurance while strengthening muscles. The class will begin with a warm-up and offer modifications for every level and end with a cool down.

-       Wednesday & Friday

-       8:30 am to 9:30 am

-       Age Group: Active Adults 

-       Equipment: Chair, weights and elastic training bands


Classes will resume on July 26.

Through a series of exercises using resistance bands, balls, and rings, this workout helps build, sculpt, and tone muscles, giving your body a long, lean look. Pilates aids in flexibility and improving posture, as stretching your body is a vital part of class.

-       Friday

-       6:00 pm to 7:15 pm

-       Age Group: Adult and Seniors

-       Equipment: a tie or rope can be used if you do not have a resistance band or ring. 
        A can of soup or vegetables can be used if you do not have a ball. 

YOUTH CLASSES                                                                  

Kids Zumba

Classes will resume on July 26.

Perfect for younger Zumba fans! Kids get the chance to be active and jam out to their favorite music doing kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba Choreography.

-      9:30 to 10:30 am

-      Age Group: Kids Ages 6 – 14

The Parks and Recreation Department was joined by Vice Mayor Tina Paul on March 18 as an injured Brown Pelican was released back into the wild following successful injury rehabilitation. In partnership with Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Town staff had the opportunity to tour their facility afterwards to learn more about their programs.



Memorial Day is often seen as the start to summer, but the holiday marks a day of solemn remembrance of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
