Surfside Earns Class Upgrade Rating Certification from FEMA

The Building Department, under the direction of Floodplain Manager and Building Official James McGuinness and Department Supervisor Marisol Vargas, was successful in demonstrating excellence in Floodplain Management as determined by a recent FEMA/CRS audit.

The Town has achieved an upgrade from Class 7 to a Class 6 CRS rating. This will result in a savings of more than 20% in flood insurance premiums for the entire Town. Total Town-wide discounts on insurance premiums will now exceed $469,000.00, which is an increase in savings of more than $126,000 over prior year audits.
