Sewer Base Meter Charge: $6.88

Residential Garbage Rate: $246.82 annually (as of January 2013 they will be included in the taxes)

Residential Recycling Rate: $30.26 annually (as of January 2013 they will be included in the taxes)

Stormwater bi-monthly fixed rates:

  • Residential: $21.40
  • Places of Worship: $10.70
  • Multi-family: $21.40 × the number of units
  • Commercial: $26.76 (1.25 ERU per 1,300 square feet)

Explanation of Water and Sewer Charges

WATER: Single Family, Duplex, Triplex and Quadplex

  • Base Meter Charge – The standard charge for the use and maintenance of the water utility system. This charge is assessed whether or not any water is used in any billing period. The rate varies depending upon the size of the meter.
  • Usage Level One – A charge based upon the number of gallons of water used during this billing period from 0 gallons to 12,000 gallons. The charge assessed is based upon the cost incurred by the Town of Surfside to purchase and distribute water.
  • Usage Level Two – A charge based upon the number of gallons of water used during this billing period from 12,001 gallons to 24,000 gallons. The charge assessed is based upon the cost incurred by the Town of Surfside to purchase and distribute water.
  • Usage Level Three – A charge based upon the number of gallons of water used during this billing period in excess of 24,001 gallons. The charge assessed is based upon the cost incurred by the Town of Surfside to purchase and distribute water.
  • County Tax – The amount of tax imposed by Miami-Dade County, collected by the Town of Surfside and remitted to Miami-Dade County.

WATER: Commercial, Multifamily

  • Commercial Uniform Level – A charge based upon the number of gallons of water used during the billing period for commercial establishments and multifamily buildings.

Sprinkler/Pool:

  • Separate sprinkler/pool water meters are charged without the sewer surcharge, but with a base charge and with levels one, two and three as above.

Sewer:

  • Base fixed charge - The standard charge for use and maintenance of the sewer utility system assessed on a per account or per dwelling unit basis.
  • Service Charge – A charged based upon water consumption.
  • County Tax – The amount of tax imposed by Miami-Dade County, collected by the Town of Surfside and remitted to Miami-Dade County.

Fire Line and fire line no meter:

  • Base Meter Charge – Only a few fire lines exist in the Town of Surfside for large scale buildings. Water usage for a special fire line is also subject to Miami-Dade County Tax.
