Surfside's Community Relations Board (CRB) promotes mutual understanding, tolerance, and respect among diverse groups in Surfside to enhance the spirit of community within the Town. The Board organizes a variety of events for neighbors and advises the Town Commission on community tensions through the facilitation of dialogue and the support of local initiatives. Comprised of a diverse set of residents, the Board works proactively to prevent and resolve conflicts which may result in division and strife, fostering communication and respect among the community.
Oct 6, 2025: Surfside’s “Pizza and Palm Fronds” event brought the community together for an afternoon of tradition and connection sponsored by the Community Relations Board. Families and neighbors gathered at Paws Up Park to enjoy local pizza while some picked up palm fronds in anticipation of Sukkot. Vice Mayor Tina Paul, Commissioner Gerardo Vildostegui and Town Manager Mark Blumstein were among those in attendance. Thank you to the neighbors who joined us, and to the Public Works team for their support!
Sept: 30, 2025: Surfside’s Community Relations Board recently hosted an Appreciation Luncheon at the Community Center to recognize the dedication and hard work of the Town’s Public Works employees. The event, catered by Flanigan’s Grill, brought staff and board members together in gratitude for the team that keeps Surfside running smoothly each day. It was a warm and celebratory afternoon, honoring the essential role Public Works plays in maintaining the community’s quality of life.
Want to be a part of the Town's first ever Surfside Debate spring 2026? The Community Relations Board (CRB) is looking for adults who want to test their skills in a fun and exciting Town debate featuring a variety of Town topics. Surfside’s Community Relations Board hosted a Community Clothing Swap on Yard Sale at the Paddletopia event on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4. In an effort to promote upcycling and foster neighbor relations, participants browsed through a number of different items with the goal of reducing waste and supporting sustainable fashion. Dozens of residents came out to plant seeds for positivity at the Community Relation Board’s ‘Wish Upon a Surfside Tree’ activity held on Sunday, Feb.9. Wishing trees are celebrated in several countries around the world and can help lift spirits through intentional personal messages. Thank you to all the residents and Elected Officials who joined us!
Surfside’s Community Relations Board hosted its inaugural event, Pizza & Palm Fronds, on Sunday, Oct. 13, bringing residents together for an afternoon of connection and celebration. From 3 to 6 p.m., attendees enjoyed complimentary pizza while sharing palm fronds in anticipation of Sukkot. The event welcomed neighbors of all faiths and backgrounds, creating a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Surfside's Community Relations Board held its second event of the season, 'How to Talk to Your Neighbors About Politics,' an interactive session led by Executive Leadership Coach Isaac M. Carter, Ph. D. The event featured pastries by local business The Gifted Crust and aimed to provide participants with tools that help facilitate healthy, productive discussion during election season.
