A Very Surfside Summer: Tourist Board Expands Special Events Line Up
Surfside Invites Visitors and Locals to a Summer Filled with Exciting Free Beachside Events
The Town of Surfside’s Tourist Board is thrilled to announce a series of captivating events and activities throughout the remainder of the summer season aimed at bringing tourists and other locals to visit our charming coastal community. From exhilarating sandcastle competitions to live music on the beach, Surfside offers a diverse range of free beachside experiences for people of all ages. All events will take place at the 93rd Street beach, behind the Surfside Community Center 9301 Collins Avenue, Surfside, FL, 33154.
“Surfside may be small in size, but clearly, we are big on fun and community events. This wide range of summer activities, sponsored by our Tourist Board, ensures visitors have a chance to enhance their vacation experience. There is something for everyone to enjoy,” said Surfside Mayor and Tourist Board Commission Liaison Shlomo Danzinger.
2023 has been the Town’s busiest year of events, with multiple block party series’ being held in the winter and spring along with a Classic Car Show, historical walking tours, music on the beach and more.
Tourist Board Chair and Former Mayor Eli Tourgeman added, "We are excited to showcase our Town and provide a range of engaging activities for visitors and residents alike. Surfside's free summer events capture the essence of our Town, where creativity, camaraderie, and community converge."
Surfside’s full summer lineup features:
Surfcastle Royale: Surfside's Sandcastle Competition
Kicking off the summer festivities is Surfcastle Royale, a sandcastle competition event that will take place on Sunday, July 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. Surfside in partnership with ACT Productions invites sand sculptors from South Florida and beyond to gather and showcase their artistic talents and compete for the coveted title of best sandcastle. This engaging event encourages creativity, friendly rivalry, and community involvement. Participants can form teams by registering onsite from 3 to 4 p.m. Don't miss this opportunity to witness imaginative sand sculptures and enjoy live entertainment while indulging in complimentary delectable treats from local vendors.
Music on the Beach Series
Surfside's Music on the Beach series, produced by AA Musicians, invites residents and visitors to enjoy free monthly music events that highlight the Town's rich cultural diversity. The event series, which will take place on Sundays 3 - 4 p.m., features talented acts ranging from Latin fusion to Top 40. Gather your friends, family, and beach chairs, and join us on Sundays for an unforgettable free musical experience. Courtesy light snacks and refreshments will be available.

Surfside Summer Sundays Beach Party
Immerse yourself in the joyous atmosphere of Surfside's signature summer event series - Summer Sundays! Taking place on Sunday, August 6 and September 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., this event series offers a variety of children's activities, live music, delectable food, and refreshing drinks. Presented by the Surfside Tourist Board in partnership with Festival & Event Inc., Summer Sundays is the perfect opportunity to embrace the summer spirit with your loved ones.
Plastic Fishing Festival
Closing out the summer season, the Plastic Fishing Festival on September 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., invites participants to create art while promoting conservation. Join the Town of Surfside on the beach as we pick up plastic, transform it into ephemeral works of art, and raise awareness by sharing your creations on social media with the hashtag #plasticfishing. The festival, in partnership with @plasticfisherman, will feature Miami-Dade County's Sea Turtle Program and Ocean Rescue Alliance International as event partners, allowing attendees to learn more about marine conservation efforts. Prizes, music, vendors, and interactive activities will further enhance this family-friendly event.
