PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election for the Town of Surfside, Florida, will be held in said Town from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, the 17th day of March, 2026, for one Mayoral seat and four (4) Commissioner seats.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Resolutions No. 2026-3480, and 2026-3481, a Special Election has been called and ordered to be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, between the hours of 7:00am – 7:00pm, at which time the following questions shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the Town of Surfside:
1. Requiring Vote of Four of Five Town Commissioners to Change Floor Area Ratio Regulations
Shall the Charter be amended to require a vote of four of the five Town commissioners to make any changes to the Town’s zoning code affecting Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for all detached single-family homes in the H30A and H30B districts and, if this amendment is approved, require a vote of four of the five Town commissioners and approval of 60% of the votes cast by referendum to amend or repeal this amendment?

2. Changing General and Runoff Election Dates Starting in November 2028
Shall the Charter be amended to change Surfside’s general election date from March to November in even-numbered years, and any runoff to the second Tuesday of the following month, and extending, one-time only, the terms of officials elected in 2026 to November 2028?

In accordance with the Constitution and laws of the State of Florida, all qualified electors of the Town of Surfside, Florida shall be entitled to vote in the Special Election to which this notice pertains. The polls at said Special Election will be open from 7 o’clock a.m. until 7 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and will be held at the polling place at Surfside Town Hall, 9293 Harding Avenue, Surfside, Florida.
