The Town of Surfside is making progress with its scheduled sidewalk sandblasting project in the Downtown Business District, aimed at enhancing the look and safety of our community’s busiest pedestrian areas.
Work is currently taking place on the east side of Harding Avenue between 96th Street and 95th Street, with crews scheduled to continue through Friday, Sept. 12, 2025. Nightly work hours run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to minimize disruption to businesses and residents.
“Investing in the upkeep of our Downtown District is essential,” said Town Manager Mark Blumstein. “This project is about more than maintenance, it’s about making Surfside a cleaner, safer and more welcoming place for our residents, businesses, and visitors. We are committed to ensuring that our sidewalks reflect the vibrant character of our Town.”
As a reminder, sidewalk tables and seating will not be permitted in active work zones during project hours, and street parking will be prohibited along the designated blocks.
The final phase of work will take place on the east side of Harding Avenue between 95th Street and 94th Street from Sept. 14 through Sept. 19, 2025.
"Mondays with the Manager" is a weekly video program where Town Manager Mark Blumstein provides residents with updates on current projects, upcoming initiatives and Town services. The program airs on The Surfside Government Access Channel (available on Channel 663 through Breezeline TV service from Breezeline Broadband or check your local listings) and is available to stream anytime on the Town’s official website and YouTube channel.
