"Mondays with the Manager" Surfside to Plant 200 Shade Trees Along Beach Hardpack for Erosion Protection

The Town of Surfside is moving forward with a beautification project that is bringing more than 200 seagrape trees to the walking paths along the beach, providing shade for residents and visitors while helping to protect the shoreline from storms and erosion.

The initiative, championed the Town Commission, is highlighted in the Town’s video series, “Mondays with the Manager,” which offers residents regular updates on key projects, initiatives, and improvements across Surfside.

“Our goal is to improve the quality of life for residents while ensuring that Surfside remains resilient against environmental challenges,” Town Manager Mark Blumstein said. “This project balances both, providing comfort through shade and protecting our beach for generations to come.”

The first trees have already been planted. As they grow, they will enhance the beachfront landscape with shade and natural beauty.
