
TOWN OF SURFSIDE ARYA GRAY HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

- Refer to the application process below for a list of the supporting documents needed (i.e., reference forms, evidence of GPA, etc.) Incomplete applications will not be considered.

- Type or print legibly. Illegible applications will be disqualified.

NOTE: Scholarship funds will be awarded to the successful student applications upon evidence
of registration in an accredited post-secondary institution.
Purpose: To Provide scholarships to one (1) deserving Town of Surfside graduating senior interested in or intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.
Award Components: One (1) $1000 scholarship and an individual certificate awarded to one (1) student selected by the Town of Surfside Scholarship Committee.
- Applicant must be a Surfside resident for at least 5 years.
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award.
- Applicant must have a minimum graduating GPA of 3.0.
- Applicant must have a financial need for the scholarship.
- Applicant must demonstrate a positive-impact through community/civic involvement as determined through letters of recommendation and responses included in the application.
Applicant must meet the minimum criteria as set forth above in items 1 through 4, the application will then be evaluated by the Parks and Recreation Committee on criteria set forth in item 5.
Applicant must submit the following items:
- Completed application form (if handwritten, please print legibly)
- Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee. The letter should contain a brief explanation of career goals and biographical (background) information.
- Three (3) letters of recommendations from choice of high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or non-related individuals with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement.
- An official and recent high school transcript with cumulative grade point average and a class standing/rank.
- Personal Essay. In your essay, please answer the following question on the enclosed essay form:
How has your involvement within the Surfside community, or the community at large, had a positive impact?
