
The United States Secret Service (USSS), in coordination with the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office and the Police Departments of Miami Beach, Surfside, Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor Islands, will implement intermittent and extended road closures within the North Beach and Surfside Town limits beginning Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 8 a.m. These closures are related to New Year’s Eve events and the presence of a USSS protectee.
Traffic impacts are expected along the Collins Avenue corridor and surrounding areas beginning at 8 a.m. Motorists should anticipate delays and plan accordingly.
Truck Restrictions
All truck traffic will be prohibited from entering Surfside beginning at 8 a.m., including commercial delivery trucks, pickup trucks, vans and vehicles exceeding standard vehicle size.
Temporary Traffic Patterns
87th Street and Collins Avenue
Beginning at 8 a.m., northbound trucks will be turned around and directed south on Harding Avenue.
88th Street and Byron Avenue
Beginning at 8 a.m., only passenger vehicles will be permitted to continue traveling northbound.
93rd-96th Street and Collins Avenue
Beginning at 10 a.m., Northbound vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Collins Avenue will be suspended between 93rd Street and 96th Street.
Southbound Harding Avenue will remain open.
Pedestrian traffic along this route will be directed to Harding Avenue or the beach hardpack.
Passenger vehicles will be directed to travel west on 93rd Street and either go south on Harding Avenue or use Byron Avenue or Bay Drive to reach 96th Street and exit Surfside.
Town Facility Closures
Due to these traffic impacts, all Town facilities and programming will be closed and suspended for the full day on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, including:
There will be no waste pickup on Dec. 31st and Jan. 1st.
