Surfside brought the rhythm and spirit of Hispanic Heritage Month to the beach with “Azúcar!,” a lively concert celebrating the music and cultural contributions of the Hispanic community last Sunday. The event invited visitors, residents and friends to come together for an afternoon of music, community and coastal charm. Inspired by the legendary Celia Cruz, the iconic Queen of Salsa, the concert celebrated her enduring legacy and the influence of Hispanic music and culture. Guests were invited to enjoy salsa rhythms against the backdrop of Surfside’s beautiful beach. Produced by Beachside Events, the event also featured delicious Cuban food including Cafecito, kosher ropa vieja, rice & beans, maduros & more.
As Hispanic Heritage Month came to a close, “Azúcar!” offered a joyful reminder that music has the power to bring people together and celebrate the richness of our shared community. The event was sponsored by the Resort Tax Board, spearheaded by Chair Eli Tourgeman. A special thank you to the entire Commission – Mayor Danzinger, Vice Mayor Benmergui, and Commissioners Travani, Weingot and Vildostegui for supporting the occasion.
