The Surfside community came together Sunday, April 21, to celebrate Earth Day with a vibrant event filled with music, vendors, and environmental awareness initiatives alongside local environmental activist, the Plastic Fisherman. Hundreds of residents and community members gathered at the event held in the community center, where they enjoyed live music from the Bossa Fusion Duo and explored offerings from 11 participating vendors.Among the highlights of the day was the release of a Lesser Black-backed Seagull by Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, in collaboration with Vice Mayor Tina Paul and Commissioner Gerardo Vildostegui, symbolizing the community's commitment to wildlife conservation.Adding to the festivities, Surfside Resident Rita Bennett was announced as the winner of the Earth Day photo contest, capturing the spirit of environmental stewardship in the community.The event provided an opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy music, learn about sustainable practices, and demonstrate their dedication to preserving the planet for future generations.
