The Town of Surfside kicked off LGBTQ+ Pride Month celebrations with a Flag-raising ceremony on Friday, June 7.
Vice Mayor Tina Paul led the ceremony and addressed the crowd, covering the history of the Pride Flag in Surfside and emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community. She also read messages of support from Mayor Burkett and Commissioner Coto. Former Commissioner Eliana Salzhauer read a dedicated statement on behalf of Commissioner Vildostegui who introduced the resolution to fly the flag.
The love and inclusion celebration continued on Sunday, June 9 with Summer Sundays, Pride Beach, presented by the Surfside Tourist Board.Attendees the chance to enjoy live music, wellness activities, cocktails, food and a pop up beach club marked by a colorful rainbow footprint. Residents and Surfside hotel guests even took home a custom Surfside T-shirt!
