Surfside Police Chief Charles R. Press has been selected as one of 14 ambassadors in Miami-Dade County for the American Cancer Society’s “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign, a fundraising initiative to support breast cancer awareness and research.
Chief Press is launching a social media effort to encourage community support and provide an easy way for residents to donate. His fundraising goal is $2,500, of which he has already pledged the first $100.
“On a personal note, my family has been affected in myriad ways by this scourge of a disease,” Chief Press said. “Therefore, I will do everything possible to contribute to this program and beat this illness. I am sincerely grateful to all those who are willing to help and donate to this worthy cause.”
Residents can donate online by visiting his campaign link: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=60638350&fr_id=111134&pg=personal.
